Unemployment down?? Not as good as they make it sound

The news says that unemployment is down.
The reason it is down...and now I can be added to this number.....is because those that have exhausted their unemployment benefits are (obviously) no longer drawing unemployment ...but... many, like me, haven't found a job. I apply for 2-3 jobs a week and only have been contacted twice for interviews.
Unemployment may be down....but is isn't as good as it "sounds". It doesn't mean people are working.

Turning the big "5-0" has brought many "first" for me....
*First time in my life I have ever been let go from a job....company down-sized :-(

Losing my job of 12 years was one of the hardest things I have had to deal with. It happened on April 12, 2011....even though it happened over a year ago the pain of it all still feels fresh to me at times. BUT... I remind myself that it just means that it is time for me to move on....try new things....do something different....learn.
